Outstanding Istrian towns
Croatian Istria is divided into two counties, the larger
being Istria County in western
Croatia. Important towns in Istria County include Pula, Porec, Rovinj, Pazin, Labin, Umag,
Motovun. Smaller towns in Istria County include Visnjan, Fazana and Hum.

Pula is city rich in history and culture. It
was built at the end of a beautiful bay and seven hills. A great tourist asset
is well preserved amphitheater 6th largest in the world. Arena in Pula is the
best preserved Roman amphitheater, built to maintain the gladiatorial games,
and is now in the Arena hosts events, concerts and film festivals, can
accommodate 23,000 spectators. Arch of Sergius in Pula was built 29-27. Mr B.C.
by Sergi family, in honor of three members of the family who held important
positions in Pula. Pula has indented
coastline, crystal clear waters and beautiful beaches are one of the many
reasons why tourists keep coming back to this historic city.

Porec is millennial town that is today one of
the most attractive destinations in Istria. It is recognizable by the peninsula
with the old town where are kept valuable clues of past. It is worth to invaluable
St.Euphrasius Basilica from the 6th Century which is which is rare famous
example of early Christian architecture whose construction began in Bishop
Euphasius IV. century, and it is a monument was added to UNESCO - World
Heritage's Register. There are also Romanesque House, House of Two Saints, and
Baroque interior in Istrian Parliament which are interesting to visit. You can
stroll past Marafor Square and see fragments of ancient temples. With beautiful beaches, clear water, long
walks, and a variety of sports and entertainment will delight you natural
beauty, such as pit Baredine, Mark pit and Pincinova pit.
Rovinj

Rovinj is the city of romance and art and is
known as the most romantic place in the Mediterranean. It is a city with a
favorable climate, a long tradition and Mediterranean flair. The old town is
situated on a high peninsula surrounded by Venetian houses and cobbled streets.
Its surrounding area offers many opportunities for recreation and vacation. In
the interior of the church St. Euphemia is the biggest attractions stone
sarcophagus of St. Euphemia in which there is embalmed body of the saint, who
according to legend was tortured.

Umag has famous port in Istria, which has the reputation
of the Istrian sports center because for many years is the host of the ATP
tournament. In the past, it was the summer residence of the Romans, as can be
seen in many Venetian houses in the old town. Umag is a favorite holiday
destination with extraordinary excursion possibilities.
